Autoplay

It would seem that many users have this problem in one form or another and
that there seems to be a varied qty of solutions.
The simple problem is that autoplay under vista just does not work well.
We have two new systems, one laptop and one desktop both running vista home
premium. Since the day theu were both switched on placing a media card into a
card reader produces nothing. The options have been set under the autoplay
options in control panel, the check box is ticked and saved yet neither
system autoplays when a media card, CD, DVD, USB stick or anything is plugged
in. One item I am not clear on is on the autoplay options screen there is a
line at the bottom that states "Devices" which apparently lists the devices
that are useable. On my systems nothing no devices are listed. Should they be
and is that the cause of my problems.
