After installing windows vista updates my internet explorer cannot
display any web pages. I am connected to the internet but I cannot
figure out how to get past this 403 error.
A system restore allows to work so I know that it is the vista updates
causing it.

Uninstall all 3p security software -firewall,antivirus,antispyware
Thanks but that one applies to XP and to Vista and Win 7 also. The only other 403
error listed and known by MS is the following but I doubt that applies to the OP
BTW. How do you personally find 9.10. I installed it and I find that there is more
eye candy than actual new GUI

You can believe that if you want.
Some cheap NAT router for home usage is not a firewall solution. And
besides, that NAT router or a, a true firewall router or a firewall
appliance is not stopping anything coming in the network traffic between
the remote computer and the client on inbound solicited traffic by the
client, Linux sitting there or not.
The NAT router doesn't look at data in the traffic.
Someone can come right though that NAT router, attack an application
that's listening on a port and attack that machine hosting Linux, if the
exploit can be ran with the user's help to run it after it reaches the
client computer.
