Default Activation lunacy

I have had problems all day with my Vista.
So I have just done a repair.
Now I have no sound, as "no audio output device is installed" (oh yes there
**** well IS)
And NOW I'm being asked to activate windows - "Eh ?" Thinks I I activated it
when I installed first off. But I thought "Oh well, it'll be like XP.
straight forward"

But it tells me my serial is in use - YES - BY ME.

What in the name of sanity is going on
????????????????????????????????????????
The so-called "toll-free number" which I had assumed was for the UK doesnt
work.
My Vista is a genuine copy, and I am seething about this.
I am already deeply regretting the massively expensive mistake in buying
this white elephant.

Got it sorted - but had to find the MS phone number for the UK, then
eventually, afrter a discussion with a very harrassed-sounding Indian
feller, got it activated over the phone - as it will not let you over
internet - why for ?!*>$*£! sake ?

Because WPA does little or nothing to stop piracy, it only
inconveniences the paying customer such as yourself.

Welcome to the new world order of Billy Boy and his druggy Balmer.

I urge people to consider Linux or Mac OS X and send a clear message to
Microsoft that we will not stand for the harassment anymore!

1. Check in the device manager (start menu, then type 'device manager') and
check to see if your audio device is installed, if not then i suspect that
you will need to install the drivers for it.

2. Regarding activation, the UK number is completly free (except for
mobiles), I used it over the weekend to activate Office and it seemed to work
fine for me... try again... if the automated part does not work just wait to
speak to somebody!

Yes, or use a hand crank calculator, No electricity required either.
Some people actually require a productive product that works in a real
world, not little toys or blank storage devices..

Default Vista activation problems?

Basically Vista is no better and no worse than XP when it comes to activation issues.
I've activated hundreds of XP systems, and now I'm up to about 40 Vista activations and overall it's pretty much the same: most go smoothly, some require some fussing around, and a couple just won't go unless you call MS.
(btw, activating & updating cloned Vista copies seems to be pretty smooth from my experience so far; here in Mexico City they sell for four bucks!)

There are Vista activation cracks and time stoppers all over the internet. I
don't know how well they work but someone will figure out a way just as they
did with XP.
