!! 0XC0190036 !! 1590/46126 VirtualDiskService-DL.man

I have a Dell laptop purchased a little over a year ago. Yesterday my wife
tried to boot the compuer and got the above error on a black screen.

Tried to reboot and got a list of things the computer wanted to do to try
and fix the problem. None of them worked the next thing was a system restore
to the last known good spot. Well there was not point to restore to. The only
thing that I have left that I can choose is a complete system restore. I
don't want to do that if I can advoid it since I have a lot of information
that I don't have backed up.

Any idea what this error code means? I have googled it and came up with
nothing.
