windows mobile - setup mobile partnership window checkbox not allo

trying to get my palm treo 750 to work with this new vista machine via
windows mobile. shows connected ok in green but does not allow to check box
items to check to sync like contacts, calender, email etc - soon a disconnect
notice will pop up without touching any device. almost there - if I bypass
setup windows mobile goes to files, etc column but again get that dissconnect
notice. ??
