Hi, Pat.

Right-click on TaxCut's Setup.exe (or whatever their installation program is
called), then click Run as Administrator and furnish the required password.

Thanks for the idea. I just did as you suggested and I get a message that
the program has stopped working and windows will check for a solution. After
a minute I get a message that says windows will notify me if it finds a
solution.

The original errors were received during the attempt to install. Right away
I get a message saying the install was interupted and I should try again. I
get the same problem each time.

I forgot to add one thing. I was able to install the file on another
computer also running Vista HP, so it isn't the program, but my computer.
There has to be a way to reinstall Windows installer, right?

Peter,

Thanks for the reply. I tried that yesterday. The utility cleans up bad
installs, but I never get far enough for Vista to recognize an install. If I
try to install from the TaxCut CD, I get a message that says the install
program was interupted, please try again. If I try to install from the
executable that TaxCut had me download, I get a message that the file has
stopped working and Windows will search for a solution. I can install the
downloaded files on other computers, but there is something on mine that is
blocking the install, that is why I thought reinstalling Windows install
would help, but I can't figure out how.
