Default Where's the sound?

Okay, so my mother just installed Windows Vista in my laptop...and everything
seemed fine until I realized that there's no sound! It won't even let me
adjust the volume because I don't have an audio output device installed.
However, before Widows Vista was installed, the audio was excellent and
working quite well. What is going on now?
And please help me as soon as possible before I throw my laptop out of my
window..!

Hi,

Visit the website of your laptop manufacturer and see if there is a Vista
compatible sound card driver for your model available. Without one, the
sound is apparently not natively supported. If there isn't one at the
laptop's site, check the system documentation for the type of sound card
chip installed and visit the sound card maker's site for one.

Go into Device Manager, and see if you can get an updated Vista compatible
driver for your Audio.
Or, check your Motherboard manufacturer's website to find a Vista Audio
Driver.

What happens when you download and install the Vista-specific audio
drivers, as provided by your laptop's manufacturer?
