I add that this applies to BOTH Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate...??
Why wouldn't Vista Ultimate recognize a single-partitioned dynamic-disk
second hard drive that XP pro sees and uses with no special configuration?

Try the import foreign disks command in Disk Management.

Vista won't recognize a Dynamic drive. It will only allow you to
convert it to Basic. If you do, you won't find your data there anymore.
However, I've used "Active Delete Pro", which will recover the lost
data. Better yet, it will allow you to put a "Mini-operating system" on
a cd, restart, and transfer all of your data to another drive before you
reformat to Basic.

Good luck with it!
