Default Vista Volume Licensing

I have a question. I have a volume licence for enterprise here. Every time
we reimage a machine that has an existing licence it does not seem to pull
from the pool.. In other words I have 75pcs and a 100 licneces.. I
re-imaged the same machine 2x it does not free up a license. I would have
to buy another 50 users license. Any help on this would be beautiful.

Joe

How the VL works would depend on which VL agreement you purchased. Here are
some links where you can get help.

Manage Your Volume Licenses:

Hello Joe,
Are you using a MAK key?
If so that is expected. The key should have more activations on it
initially than you purchased to take into account reimaging of some of
those machines. If you run out, you should call Microsoft Licensing and
tell them that you need more activations.
Thanks,

I've not yet had the pleasure of working with that licensing model, can
you tell me if the activations eventually expire?

Hello,
If you are using a MAK key, then no they would not expire. This would be
similar in behaviour to a retail activation experience

929712 Volume Activation information for Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;929712
Multiple Activation Key (MAK)
A Multiple Activation Key (MAK) can activate either an individual computer
or a group of computers by connecting directly to Microsoft servers. A MAK
can be used to install Windows Vista if you are not connected to a
corporate network. A MAK can be used to activate any volume edition of
Windows Vista. Also, after you activate Windows Vista by using MAK, you do
not have to reactivate. Additionally, you can request more MAKs by
telephone, and an escalation process will be created to complete the
request. That process takes seven business days to finish.

Thanks,
