Default Vista problems, want to use Safe Mode with better display

Hi all
I am having major problems with Vista and want to tackle it via Safe Mode.
However I need better display than the basic VGA (not enough resolution to
read the Event Logs for instance). How can I use my normal display adaptor
settings? I'm 99.99999 :-) % sure my graphics are not the problem :-)

Thank you

Finnie
