Default Vista Parttion


Hi
I partitioned my drive when i installed Vista but problem is both C
and D drive shows Primary drive.I think one should be Primary and
another Logical.
now Vista Ultimate is installed (Im using only one operating system )
if thr is anyway to change this or this not necessary to change
................

Not necessary. You can have up to four primary partitions on a given system.
Logicals are used in extended partitions when there are already 4 primary
partitions.

There can only be 3 Primary partitions if there is to be an
Extended partition. Only without an Extended partition can
there be 4 Primary partitions.

Thanks for reply th one quick question........
I did by mistaken my Hard drive both Partitioned Primary.So what is
benifit if i partitioned D drive Logical??? I know i need to do Primary
for Boot drive but Logical for what reason ??

Yes, that would be correct. Thanks for the correction. My slip, I'm too used
to using software that extends beyond that 4 partition limitation.

Hi,

You would only need a logical volume if you wanted to create more than 4
volumes on the system. Logical volumes are part of extended partitions, they
are not partitions themselves.
