Default Vista installation problem

Hi
I wonder if anyone has any ideas on this one?
I have just put a new motherboard, an Asus A8V, in my spare desktop PC,
...... alright, not one of the latest boards.
The processer is an Athlon 3.5GHz and I have 2 gig of ram.
The problem I have is I can’t install Vista Ultimate, as I run dual
boots on my PCs I installed XP first and no problems at all, but when I
try to install Vista everything slows to a crawl. The part where it
expands the files goes on for hours and hours, I left it running a whole
day and it took seven and a half hours to complete the install but on
the first update it froze and various reboots didn’t help.
I have tried another DVD rom in case there was a problem there but
still the same.
I’ve also updated the bios and searched for vista drivers for the
motherboard on various sites with no luck.
I have now run out of ideas, help!

There are NO Vista drivers for the mobo. If the mfr doesn't have any,
noibody does.

You have only one choice if you want to run Vista: get a different
mobo.

If you found that many, it should be simple to contact a couple of
them and ask them how they did it.

That mobo has the VIA K8T800 Pro chipset...and you might get lucky on the
VIA
website and find Vista drivers..
