Default Upgrade Windows XP Media Center to Vista Ultimate 64 bit

Hi All,

I confused as to the best way of doing this. I have a custom PC with AMD
Athlon 64 X2 processor, 2 GB RAM, 500 GB HD and OEM license of XP MC. I would
like to upgrade to Vista Ultimate 64 bit but from what I have read, this is
not possible unless you do a clean install, which I don't mind, but does that
prevent me from using the Upgrade version of Ultimate??

I have already done a complete backup of my system and did a USMT backup of
my settings to my Windows Home Server. What is my best option for a
successful migration?

Thanks

Ray

No, you can use the upgrade version. However, it will check that a
qualifying OS is present, and then wipe the drive and install clean.

It's a good idea to verify the backups. Don't do a full restore when Vista
is installed, as you only want your data.

You will need to reinstall the apps.
