Default Recover Vista From Upgrade Redemption?

Hi People,

Something has crossed my mind.

I purchased my Acer laptop in December 2006 and a few days ago got my Vista
disc (via upgrade redemption). When using Windows Media Centre Edition i had
Acer eRecovery program to recover the computer back to manufacturer default
settings incase i had to do a complete reinstall.

When i had my vista disc i had "Vista Upgrade Disc" and "Acer Upgrade
Wizard" (to install drivers etc)

But what would or could i do if i needed to install Vista?

I never do repair as i think they are utter waste of time and i dont see any
options or find any info i want i would do if this happened to me.

At the moment i am little concerned over this. Why Acer eRecovery isn't
available for Vista i do not know.

also I have Vista Home Premium.

(I think Vista Complete Backup should have been made available in Vista Home
Premium as this would make life much easier plus Home Premium is one of the
versions most be will be entiteled to via upgrade redemption).

Thank you,
Matthew

Default RE: Recover Vista From Upgrade Redemption?

Anyone know?

Surely Microsoft does not expect me to install my previous OS then Vista all
over again incase of needing to reinstall

You only posted your question an hour and 20 minutes ago. This is a peer to
peer newsgroup with folks from all over the world. It can take 24-48 hrs
for the right person to see your post and decide to respond.

Do you have experience with the repair functions in Vista? Just because you
did or didn't use a feature in one OS is not a reason to assume things are
the same (or different) in another one. Don't be anchored to the past.

The fact is Complete PC backup is not available in Vista Home Premium, so if
you want it then get Business or Ultimate; another option is to buy Acronis
True Image Home, version 10 which does imaging, cloning and file backup. It
works well in Vista.

You got the upgrade from Acer. It's their process.

Makes me think of Leslie Nielson in the Naked Gun movies. "Surely you
jest". "Don't call me Shirley".
