Default Possible to use Microsoft Outlook instead of Windows Mail in Vista

I have Vista & programmed with Windows Mail and Microsoft Works. I can
receive and view attachments in W.Mail but when forwarding these attachments
to others (including back to myself to test), I can't open them (blank box
with white cross on red square in top left corner). Any solutions or,
alternatively, can I programme M. Outlook into my laptop to use for emails
instead of W.Mail?

Re M.Works: any docs I write in Works and attach to an email can't be opened
by most of my friends. Any solution? - or can I download M.Word or other
which I think may be better that Works?

Tools/options/Security
Uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."

Microsoft Outlook works with Windows Vista although it is not free.

If you send a works document to someone, they need Works or a viewer
to view the document.
Microsoft Word is more common and more have it thus making it better
than Microsoft Works to send to others.
There is a free reader for those that do not have Microsoft Word.

Further questions should be directed to an Office, Word or Works
newsgroup:

Attention Jupiter Jones/Hank Arnold: Many thanks for your advice.
Downloaded the M.Word Reader which works a treat and will probably switch
Windows Mail to Outlook Express, as Hank indicated it works for him. Many
thanks guys.

You can't use Outlook Express in Vista. You can use Outlook, though.

Why MS keeps naming products this confusing way is beyond me.

Oops, yes - my mistake. Hank DID say Outlook and not Outlook Express. Will
make sure I get the correct one! Thanks Tom.

Glad to hear you worked it out. However, I said I use *Outlook* not
Outlook Express.
