Default Ok I have installed Vista but it is mega (unusable) slow....

.... It take minutes to click on anything.

I have installed my Motherboard drivers and my GPU drivers to little effect.

I have

8400 Dual Core
8800 GT
2 GB Ram (took other 2 out cause everyone said that caused probs)
320GB SATA2 HD
650I NForce Motherboard

Anyway if anyone can suggest any additional steps I can take to speed it up.

Is it worth downloading the updates. If I do that it will probably take all
afternoon. Plus I'll have to log off this computer.

Are you referring to the speed of your internet connection, or the perceived
speed of your computer operating under Windows Vista? If you have just
performed a clean install of Vista, you need to install chipset drivers
before anything else.

No I mean slow as in the operating system is mega slow. Check out this guys
post the same as that except I have new Bios and it doesn't help. Does
anyone know if the NF650I motherboard is compatible with Vista64?

Oh forgot to mention installed video card and motherboard drivers. Didn't
help much at all. Seems the system is slowest when accessing from HD. If it
is working from RAM it appears to work better. Ran pc health test in vista
and it identified a slow average query to HD time. Cant remember exactly
what it was called.

Hardley,

Try step 6 and 11 to help the hard drive, but I would look at the
others to help speed up the overall performance of Vista.
