Default New Computer cannot detect SATA HDD

Specs as follow:
E2160
ASUS P5N-MX ALL IN ONE
8500gt
W.D. 80gb sata

Using Vista, when i try to install it, it cant detect the hard drive. I
proceed to scan for it and inserted my motherboard drive and it still
cant find it. I go into bios and i find that SATA 1-4 shows no hard
drive but it is clearly connected :/
The IDE Optical Drive works fine though :/

Any ideas on how i should go about this?

You might try using a different power or SATA cable to the drive. One of
them may be defective.

Does your Bios see the drive or show when your computer posts at start up.

If your BIOS cannot see it then Vista cannot see it.
Check your BIOS settings....you might need to enable SATA in your BIOS

Go to the SATA hard drive maker's site, and download the driver for it, and
save to a mem stick.
Install it when asked during installation. I think it is F6.

its not the HD that’s the problem so the manufacturer will NOT have SATA
drivers.
SATA drivers are part and parcel of the mobo and the chipset maker of that
SATA controller is where you would find your SATA drivers..or the website of
whoever made that particular mobo....ASUS!!

In your BIOS look for someting like IDE Configuration
in the Main Menu, and check that SATA is configured
as IDE. That will enable compatibility without extra
drivers. Also, any SATA drivers are motherboard
controller drivers, not drivers for hard drives.

As Ian D said check your BIOS the settings should read something like ACHI
or IDE. Make sure it is set to ACHI. Though it still should work on ACHI
as Vista installed for me on there no problem. But IDE is just easier to
work with.
