I know that Microsoft says that an Easy Transfer Cable must be "Vista
Certified" etc. to work with Vista. Is that really necessary?
I have a USB transfer cable that is designed to work with
XP/2000/ME/98SE. I figured I'd try it out.
I installed the driver software for XP and then tried the Easy Transfer
Wizard. When I plugged the cable in to the Vista machine it requested I
insert the disc with the driver.
Clearly the driver is not Vista compatible, so that's a no go.
Is there any way for me to get around this, or do I need to suck it up
and buy a new cable?
How is it that Vista recognizes a "Vista-compatible" USB cable?
