Hi, I uninstalled msworks from my computer but now decided I want (need) it
back. Is there a way to re-install it on my laptop? Since vista on laptop
doesnt come with system cds i guess it must be possible to do over the
internet or something but I can't find out how.
As an aside, why is microsoft so cheap and only give out works (which is
like 15 years old and rubbish) with vista basic instead of office? Another
cheapo scheme?

You cannot reinstall it. It's gone.

You bought a "cheapo" computer so it didn't come with the more robust
MS Office installed. Dell offers Office as an option, but it costs
$150. "Cheapo" buyers stay with Works.
A really "cheapo" alternative to MS Office is Open Office. Google
it.

If your system has a recovery process, it may do the trick. Contact the
manufacturer for assistance.

You got what you bought. You likely purchased a cheap computer, which
came with a cheap product. Neither Office nor Works are free.
If you wanted Office, you should have purchased it.
Microsoft Operating Systems have never come with Office for free, idiot!
You are the "El Cheapo" getting Vista BASIC.

Why don't you go back to beating your Sheila, instead of attempting and failing to insult people?

Contact the computer vendor for MS Works installation media, or ask them how
it can be re-installed from the recovery partition..
MS Office has to be purchased.. MS Works is bundled by the computer vendor
to give the computer user more scope straight out of the box..

Sure. Simply re-install it from the original installation media from
which you first installed it.

No, the installation of Vista has absolutely nothing to do with it, as
Microsoft Works is an entirely separate application suite that must be
purchased and installed separately from the OS. Microsoft Works comes
pre-installed on new computers only when the computer manufacturer
chooses to offer it, and the purchaser is willing to pay extra for it.
There will have been installation disks among the documentation, etc.,
that came with the computer. If you've since lost them, contact the
computer manufacturer; if you never received them, contact the vendor
from whom you purchased the computer.

Again, Microsoft has nothing to do with it. Direct these questions
towards the computer manufacturer.
Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor Microsoft Works,
nor any of their individual component applications (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any*
Windows operating system. They are, and always have been, separate
applications, that must be purchased and installed separately.
You can download OpenOffice.org 2.2
It's still free
