Basically during the installation of Vista ultimate 32bit when it gets
to the language selection screen, there in no mouse cursor visible to
select the options or clink next...and im not sure but don’t the
keyboard is working either, any ideas? Any help would be well
appreciated! it’s a PS/2 mouse and the computer is all brand new
If neither your mouse nor keyboard are working, check to see if you have got
them plugged into the correct sockets. The mouse should go into the green
coloured socket and the keyboard into the purple coloured one. Although the
plugs are physically identical and can be plugged into either socket they
will not work unless they are in the correct socket. If they are already in
the correct sockets but still fail to work then they might be faulty. Check
by using them on a system that you know is working. If they now work then it
is more likely to be a fault with your motherboard. To verify this, attach a
known good mouse and keyboard to your new system (don't use the mouse and
keyboard that you are having problems with). If your system now accepts
input from the keyboard and mouse then it could mean that the other mouse and
keyboard aren't compatible with your motherboard. If you still have no
success then I'm afraid you will be looking at a new motherboard as it isn't
possible to repair them. Alternatively, you could try USB versions of your
mouse and keyboard. This will be cheaper than forking out for a new
motherboard, but if there is a fault on the board it could well affect other
operations on it as well.
