can you help me figure out how to make the questions mark appear as a
question mark and not the character above (a spanish e). the quotation marks
also do the same thing. other characters are normal.

You've got the wrong locale selected. Go to Control Panel>Regional and
Language Options and make sure you've selected the correct choice; i.e., if
in the US you want plain United States and not United States International.
I don't know if Works has a separate place where you set your country or
not. Works-related questions should be posted in its newsgroup:

You have the keyboard set for Canada French or Canada International..
Go to Regional and Language Options and change it to Canada English..
Thanks so much. I've tried saving the settings as you indicate below but no
luck. Still not getting quotes or question mark. Any other help?? Backslash
is a weird a andthe brackets next to backsplash also a weird character? pls
help i don't know what else to do??

You aren't supposed to save the settings exactly as I said; you're supposed
to use settings for where you are! If you are in Canada, do as Mike Hal
wrote. You're still not using the correct locale!
