I'm new here and I'm new with Vista.
and... it's my first post here,
Right now I'm running Vista Ultimate 64bit and sometime I feel it's
just too big (~17gb for fresh installation).
Is there any option the to make smaller?
I know that Vlite is good start but I'm not sure what should i remove
or not.
Another Q-I search but couldn't find clear answer:
Is the UAC option should be disable?
(advance user that will probably will not harm the OS )

You can trim off some unneeded files etc but it's not worth the effort...
trust me. Instead of spending hours on picking out files, dependencies,
services, processes and so on you're better off buying a larger hard drive -
yeah, make a 100GB system partition. If you need speed, buy the WD
VelociRaptor (sic!) WD3000GLFS - $300 for 300GB.

If you feel Vista is too big for your hard drive, replace the hard drive.
It is cheaper to do that than to buy a different OS.

What a stupid answer. Did you even read the question? Obviously if they
wanted to use the Fatso of all Windoze Os's they would have had the sense to
know that they would have to have a gugalzillion Gigabyte hard drive
upgrade....that isn't what they are looking for, bonehead! They are looking
for an alternative to the overly girthed one know far and wide as Vista.
Vista a a greatly bloated mess of an os. Any time you have to have an
unGodly large HD to be able to use an OS, and most of the "goodies" aren't
even needed (or wanted) by Joe Average, it's time to exercise some options
such as a different offering for OS...Believe me there are plenty out there
that will MORE than compete with the morbidly obese VISTA.
Your answer is the equivalent of a fatty going to Jenny Craig and asking for
help and having the personal weight loss person tell them that the resolution
to their search for weight loss is to simply go to "Tubbies R Us" and buy
some larger clothes.
so.. All of you that are saying that there is not a version of Vista Lite are
wrong. I am running a version (Ultimate) of Vista lite. The lite version
takes all of the crap out of the OS including Windows Meeting Place and all
of the non essential processes. Some other things that are removed from
Vista Lite are integrated Windows Mail, Outlook Express, and other useless
programs. Just remember that Vista Lite will only work with a valid license
key, so you will need to purchase the full version to get the correct key. I
recommend purchasing Vista Ultimate and using the product key for the
Ultimate Lite. The lite version is available for download (until Microsoft
creates their own Lite version) through PTP or Torrent. I think the full
version is ridiculous. Forcing people to buy new computers to properly run a
new version of a bloated OS is just wrong...
