Default Keyboard Icon Missing from Control Panel

Hi all,
I just re-installed Windows Vista Business on my laptop and when I go
into the control panel, the Keyboard option is completely missing. Now
I can't change the speed at which my cursor blinks and all that other
stuff. I even did a search for keyboard in the control panel and
nothing or relevance came up. I also went to the Vista Help on my
laptop and searched for Keyboard and I found an item that said "Click
here to change the keyboard settings". When I clicked on it, it went
nowhere.
It's as if the keyboard settings have somehow been uninstalled or
something .
How can I fix this and bring it back?

I have to try it when I get home,
but I don't think it will since I went to the help section in Windows
Vista and I clicked on "Go to Keyboard Settings".
I'm assuming that the "Go to Keyboard Settings" would also try to be
opening main.cpl.
Is there anything else that I can try, once again I will confirm once I
get home from work today.

You have just reinstalled.

Go to the manufacturer's website and see if there are any drivers there for
your model.

Hi,
I have most of the latest drivers. Also none of them seem related to
the keyboard at all.
This used to work fine before I reinstalled and I didn't update any
unneccesary driver.

Hi, I tried running main.cpl keyboard from the start menu and it showed
up. How do I get it to appear in my Control Panel now?

Hi,
Does anyone have any idea how to bring my keyboard settings back into
the control panel?

Hi AngryJedi.

What is the make and model of your keyboard? You need to install the
latest driver for the keyboard.

In the mean time, you can create a desktop shortcut to the Keyboard
Control Panel item by:
1. Type "main.cpl keyboard" (no quotes) in the Start menu white line
area.
2. Right click main.cpl keyboard at the top and click Send To ->
Desktop (create shortcut).

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hey brink,
My keyboard is a keyboard built into the laptop and there are no
drivers for it on the Asus website. In fact, before I clean installed
Vista it showed up perfectly fine in the Control Panel.

AngryJedi,

That is great to hear. Although it should of autodetected the built-in
keyboard sooner. Strange. Oh well, at least it fixed itself for you.

Have a good one,
Shawn
