Default iTunes cannot be installed in 32bit

I can't install the new iTunes 64

It appears that : The version of this file is not compatible with the
version of the Windows you're running. Check your computer's system
information to see whether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit)
version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

Ensure you have the very latest one form the apple site
Ensure you are running with an administrative level account for the install.
iTunes installs and runs fine on both x86(32-bit) and x64(64-bit) Vista
platforms

Hi,

Please download and install the most recent release of iTunes, the version
in the box is likely several versions old:

Default RE: iTunes cannot be installed in 32bit

A mate of mine had the same problem this week, same error message with iTunes
from Apple.com(60.5MBs).
But the download from Apple was not completing.
I downloaded it on mine, copied to flash drive, installed on his with no
probs.
No idea why!
