Default DirectX

I inadvertently downloaded DirectX. I use Windows XP Professional. This has
really messed up my Windows Media Player - I can view video files or
DVD's...how do I uninstall DirectX?

Thanks...

Default RE: DirectX

Hi sjs,

You cannot uninstall DirectX, only update it to the latest version. XP,
unlike the relevant editions of Vista (Home Premium and Ultimate), cannot
play DVDs natively without the addition of a suitable codec such as provided
when you install, for example, 'CyberLink PowerDVD 7'. You can also try to
update Media Player and also your graphics driver (obtain the driver for this
from the manufacturer and not Microsoft). Failing this, you might need to
reinstall XP. Make sure that you have backed up all important data before you
start. This post is cross-posted to the XP General Discussion newsgroup in
case someone there can offer you other ideas.
