Default AIM 6

I have Vista Ultimate with Windows Live messenger, I have a Linksys router
WRT600N and Cable connection on a Dell XPS 420 desktop computer (new). I can
not see any of my AIM contacts for IM on my Windows Live messenger, although
it says I should see them. And they can not see me. So I downloaded AIM 6
onto my desktop, but I am remembering how difficult it was to get rid of it
on my windows 98se computer. Is there a way I can get to use my present IM
to see and be seen by AIM users? Thanks.

Windows Live Messenger can only "see" Yahoo Messenger and vice versa,
if I remember correctly.

You might want to try Trillian. It will handle all three, and it uses
very little resources. I've used it for years and finally popped for
the "Pro" version a year or so ago.

Does Trillion allow you to invite someone in to work on your computer, like
the Windows Live messenger does?

Don't know. I don't think so.

I don't think I'd use an IM to handle that kind of thing anyway. Gives
me the shivers just thinking about it.

Default Re: AIM 6

first thing the installation asked for was a "plugin directory". I don't
know what that means. Would that be desktop, "C", C:/Programs....?????? I
have never been asked that by an installation before. So I stopped the
installation until I could get more information. It was a blank blue page
with a browse button with a drop down box and a blank white line you could
type in. Didn't even have the name of the program on it.
