So I have question about connecting my laptop to my lcd. I have a new Sony TZ laptop, and more options to connect the laptop to the Sharp Aquos HDTV than I previously had.
Serial(blue) to serial
Digital(white) to digital (this is what I did on my old laptop)
Serial to digital
Serial to Component
S-video to s-video
and I think I have a firewire port on my laptop, but not on my lcd .. I'll have to check, but if not, firewire to serial/digital/component/s-video adapter.
It's mainly to watch dvd's and play games on the bigger 37in lcd.

That's not a serial connector - that's the good ol'
analog "VGA" connector.
