I just had a monitor that totally tanked and went schizo on me.
Basically it was a 17" LCD from Norcent.
Right now, I'm looking for a decent LCD monitor under $300 and around
15-19". Which monitor company and brand would give me the best bang
for my buck?
I'm no computer junkie, but I'm a college student who will be using it
a lot to write hugely important essay papers, so I need a pretty good
resolution so I don't go blind after using it for 2 months. Also
reliability is a big issue, and not so much how many HDMI resolution
widescreen gaming pixels I can fit in a 1000:1 contrast HD infrared
blah blah blah.
Any ideas?
Short and sweet would be nice.

Go to someplace like newegg.com and pick something out. They all
work. Sort by size and shape and pixel-count (often mistakenly
referred-to as "resolution") and price.
Be aware that there's resolution (as in pixels per inch) options, e.g.
a 19" with 1680x1050 pixels will, of course, display everything
smaller than will a 22" with the same 1680x1050 pixels. Some people
prefer the larger size so they can lean-back a bit, some people like
to sit close and will prefer the tighter pixel-pitch of the smaller
monitor.
