Pretty easy to calculate from battery capacity and run time.

Really easy and really wrong if one assumes that the capacity of a used
battery is equal to what the manufacturer claims for a new one or that the
computer runs until no charge remains.

Ahhh... now I gotta go look up new IBM bat. capacity, or pull mine to
refresh my memory. In any case, I suspect you are alluding to the
computer draw being less than 3A.... and I agree.

When my computer was new or 4 years ago, I got almost 4 hours run
time. That would be the figure I use to calculate current consumption
rate.

If you pull the battery and use the LT...you'll probably use less than
1 amp.

Battery Information on fairly recent ThinkPads gives the remaining
battery capacity.
