Windows 7 is excellent, well worth the wait, but probably won't be
included on machines purchased from the Lenovo Outlet.

Generally good idea, but Windows 7 is already near or at SP1 quality.

Agreed, and likewise.

Quite usable, but not as good as high-end desktop flat panels.

From that same reference:
DisplayPort can use an adapter to convert its signal to DVI and, with
the right converter, can convert to VGA signals as well. It also
easily converts to HDMI.
See

Video only -- currently the only adapter with audio I know of is the
Kanex for Macs.

Dont forget the T60 (non-p). I have about the highest spec T60 4:3 ratio
that was available and I spent a year looking for one to buy as I missed out
on a new one. IMO it is the best ThinkPad ever, bar none. The only advantage
the T60p has over this machine is that it has a 'better' graphics chip. I
put 'better' in inverted commas as a lot of people have problems with the
GPU overheating in the T60p's and comment that they'd rather have the ATI
X1400 / 128MB that this machine has. The other option that is 'p' only is
UXGA resolution which, in my experience, too fine a resolution for a 15"
panel. My 1400x1050 IPS (FlexView) is excellent, anything higher on 15" is
overkill. (Anyone who hasn't seen a good IPS LCD doesn't know what an LCD
can do, or how good it can look IMO.)
I'm not a fan of widescreen on a PC (also Lenovo don't do an IPS widescreen)
or reflective screens so this machine I have (T60 2007-7KU) is close to the
best laptop ever IMHO:
I upgraded mine to 3GB of RAM and fitted a 320GB 7200rpm HDD within days of
getting it. It should have enough power and speed to last me many years,
especially as Microsoft have finally broken the 'must upgrade hardware to
run latest OS' pattern with the pending release of Windows 7. A move
incidently that's going to hurt hardware manufacturers, Intel and AMD
especially. From now on speed isn't going to be the thing to look for in a
machine, the most important thing will be longevity and we all know nothing
beats a ThinkPad for that.

According to the Outlet's FAQ:
"Are outlet PCs eligible for the Windows® 7 upgrade?
Vista Home Premium/Vista Pro/Vista Ultimate Licensed models can
be upgraded to their equivalent Windows 7 Model. If you have an
XP downgraded model that is licensed with Vista Business, that is
also eligible. More details on upgrading to Windows 7. "
