Is the SATA connector on a 2.5" notebook drive a different SATA
connector than is found on the 3.5" desktop drive? I need to copy a
notebook drive, and the connector at least looks different. If it is
different, where can I find a suitable SATA-to-IDE or SATA-to-SATA
adapter cable? I already have a SATA-to-IDE adapter for 3.5" internal
drives.

The connector is either a standard one, or something you will
be hard pressed to find an adapter for. Can you post the
exact model?

The SATA connectors on 2.5" and 3.5" drives are identical. Even
the connector spacing from the bottom and right edges of the drives
is identical on both types.
