What's the difference between V and G?

According to Hitachi Deskstar spec sheet(*) the "V" is a "generation
code" (and seem to be the current one). What they understand by this is
left as an exercise to the reader; I'd guess a firmware/hardware release
number, but it could be something else.

I found that, too. But I can't find an example of "G" in Hitachi's
site...

If it's an old version you won't find it, unless they have an archive
section.

Guess that means I should only look for "V". Thanks.
