Oh well.

Then you have a problem.
I wouldnt use Seagate in your situation unless you go for a 2.5"
drive because their 3.5" drives get too hot in external enclosures.
Their longer warranty is desirable, but their failure rate is too high for
me and even a swap under warranty is a ****ed nuisance I dont need.
They also took over Maxtor which I have avoided for a long time now.
Hitachi use china for manufacturing too, tho do appear to get less
of a problem from doing that. I dont like the way they can play silly
buggers with warranty claims tho. Excellent OEM manuals tho.
WD doesnt seem to be able to get their act into gear on the most basic
stuff like designing a drive that works fine in both RAID and non RAID.

Yep.

It looks like Antec MX-1 enclosure uses 3.5" HDDs.

Bummer. I don't use RAID setup on any of the PCs.

They are fine with most cheap simple stuff RAID controllers as found on
MoBos and cheap add-in cards.
It's the professional RAID controllers that have a problem with the
desktop drives due to their inflexibility to allow for the longer retries
that some desktop drives take so they time out on the assumption that
the drive isn't responding where in actual effect the drive is fine.
It's as much WD's fault as it is the RAID controller manufacturer's.
At least they manufacture pure Desktop and pure Server drives each
dedicated to the purpose that they are intended for.
They are now followed by other manufacturers that do the same.

Awesome! Glad your boss went for the big drive.
Can't wait to hear your impressions of the combination.

Well not yet in my last post. Now, both my bosses approved. These better
be good! Maybe I will want one for home too.
