I recently upgraded my system with an Intel Bad Axe 2 motherboard, running
XP SP2.
The device manager shows an Intel 82801GB SATA Controller with an Intel
driver. I was curious if it was up to date and checked Intel's web site.
Intel lists the Intel Matrix Storage driver for the controller. However, the
instruction says the driver should be installed if & only if the controller
is configured as RAID or AHCI. I'm not using either.
So, does it mean that XP SP2 has taken care of the driver (and perhaps
up-to-date)?

The standard PCI IDE driver is the one and only.
