I see no one has commented.
I don't know anything about that particular SCSI controller.
You say, "main board" detects the controller.
That mean it shows in device manager with no errors?
I have XP box, with 2930 PCI controller, XP saw it when I first popped
it in and booted up, loaded built-in XP drivers for it.
ASPI not needed for the SCSI adaptor itself, only for some devices,
mainly scanners. I needed it for Nikon film scanner.
I happen also to have JAZ drive on chain, mainly because I needed it for
the cable arrangment using the cables I happened to still have to be
able to use the Nikon.
Anyway, XP also found the drivers for the JAZ drive by itself, and
AFAIK, should find them for the ZIP drive.
If your controller doesn't show in Device Manager, then I'd say it's no
go until it does.
Not sure what to suggest if it doesn't, except remove it, reboot, power
down, reinsert SCSI, reboot, see what happens then.
Again, ASPI shouldn't be needed for a ZIP drive (I don't think).
If controller can't be successfully installed, I suppose it's possible
that XP does support that particular model, but again, I just don't
know.
Thought I'd respond to ya with what little I know, maybe will give you a
clue or something.

Contoller and ZIP are listed as the mainboard BIOS does its stuff, ie
before windows boots.
Controller sort of shows up in XP Device manager with a dreaded
Question mark.
I have tried a Linux(Koppix) live CD and it finds the ZIP drive which
can be mounted but PC freezes when tried to open the ZIP disc.
Yes, have taken card out and rebooted- no diference.
Going to try W2000 adaptec drivers.
Thanks for interest.

Well, one thing is sure.
No device connected to that controller is gonna work until Device
Manager gives the SCSI card the high sign.

Oops, that page says "XP/Vista" but only Vista is actually listed.
And NO SCSI at all. Adaptec company not listed at all either.

The Adaptec 2920 is listed in XP's scsi.inf as unsupported.

Its the 2902e card I have. I have this from a Google
server_adaptecaic-7899g.exe
which was said to be XP compat, But My XP wizard does not like it.
Since it is said to be W2000 and NT compat thought it might work
Dont how if it can installed anyway otherway.
Thanks for comments
