Hi, I have a PowerEdge 1600sc server with a SCSI DDS4 drive. The drive has
what I believe is a Ultra 160 connector which looks very much like an IDE
connector. I want to replace the drive with a SCSI DAT72 which has a Ultra
320 connector. The Ultra 320 connector is physically different than the
160, but it is suppose to be backwards compatible. Clearly I will need a
new data cable to go between the SCSI controller and the drive but I don't
know what that cable is called. Any suggestions on what cable to purchase
or where to buy it?
Many thanks
Looks like i need a female to female 68 pin to 50 pin adapter to plug on teh
back of the dat72 SCSI ultra 320 (68 pin) drive so that I can plug my ultra
160 (50 pin) SCSI cable into it. But not sure if I can just get the cheap
$5 ones or if the more expensive "9LNT" type is required to support this
tape drive. Any insight appreciated. Thank you!

thanks for another completely unhelpful response. i now get why this group
is so dead. there appears to be noone left here that is helpful.

Are you sure it's not a DDS3, they usually have 50 pin connector, and
that's not U160. Both U160 & U320 use 68 pin connector/cable. U320 is
backwards compatible if you buy converter as mentioned elsewhere in thread.
