Default Twin SCSI board conflict

I have two scsi boards one Adaptec SCSI with a 15GB disk and a second a
Mylex RAID controller with rwo 70Gig 10k disks. All on 160MB SCSI...

I want to have the first as the system disk (already got Debian up and
running on the 15 GB) and am trying to get a RAID system on the twin 10ks.

Problem is that only either one or the other scsi card is detected during
boot. If I remove the scsi lead to the Adaptec I get the Mylex controller
firing up. But when all is plugged in, then only the Adaptec fires up and
the mylex is ignored.

Seems to be a conflict on the PCI bus with the two cards ... any
suggestions?

Neil

What type of Mylex RAID controller?

"detected during boot" by some BIOS info/setup tool or by the OS?

If the OS ignore the second one:
There should be no hardware problem and only the driver for the second
SCSI HA is (for whatever reason) not loaded. To verify this: Connect
both HAs and all disks and try to manually load the driver for the Mylex
after booting from the Adaptec (using modprobe).

Post lspci and dmesg output here if this don't bring up both HAs.

If it's really a PCI conflict, try this.

remove all cards from the machine, except video, if that comes out.

power on machine, pas the POST, then shut down.

added one card, power on, shut down. Repeat for each card.

You might even clear your BIOS before doing all this.

Even Intel made server boards sometimes get really confused with Intel
made network cards and you haveto run through this step to get them to all
detect correctly.
