Hello, do modern SCSI adapters (I'm thinking of the adaptec 29320LPE
to connect a tape drive in my desktop system) cause any problems with
suspending and resuming a system?

They shouldn't. I have a 19160 and a 29320 in the same (relatively ancient)
system and it has no problems with suspend-to-ram or suspend-to-disk...
