I have big problem: the controller don't see the disk (the led on the disk
is on, but the disk don't spin up)

With the same cable (ALPHENOL HIGH QUALITY CABLE U320 ACTIVE TERMINATOR
LVD - SE REMOVABLE)

I have tested the disk on the Adaptec 2940U2W and works fine

I have tested the controler with old Disk IBM SCSI UW 9gb and works fine...

But if i test the st373454LC on LSI22320-R the controller strat, but the

does the drive spin up with no scsi cable attahed, and only power?

you have have it jumpered to not spin up on power on.

Since the 2940U2W and the LSI 22320-R are both LVD Host Bus Adapters
any issues with the SCA converter (which you conveniently forgot to mention)
should show up equally on both. Since it works fine with the Adaptec and the
Single Ended IBM works fine with the LSI it looks like the LSI may be faulty
in the LVD department.

What happens if you set the Force SE jumper on the drive?
What if you use the other channel (yes, you forgot to mention that too).

Excuse me
I have tested the Adaptec2940U2W and LSI22320-R with the same cable and the
same
adapter (80 to 68 pin) with the seagate ST373454LC and IBM disk...

Nothing... it's the same...

It's the same...

The disk spin up... it works correctly...

Yes, and it's the same...

I have tested the LSI22320-R with another disk (Quantum 18 Gb 80 pin) with
the same adapter (80 to 68 pin) and the same cable...
the problem is is identical: the controller does not recognize the disc
(with the Adaptec 2940U2W it's ok!)

Sigh!!!

Meaning, the IBM is SCA too?

Weird.

For both channels to be faulty, that's just too much of a coincidence .....

Then the only thing that I can think of is that one of the signal lines of the
drive/converter/cable is critical and the Adaptec just accepts it but the
LSI doesn't.

But to fail in both LVD and SE mode ..... Definitely weird.
Unless that converter is SE only?

You sure it is not just operator error? Like the drive ID excluded from scan.

Ok, so here is a typo. Just not sure which typo: "disks are" or "disk is".
Please explain.
