I have a question on an old MegaRAID 428 SCSI RAID controller we have
installed on an old voice mail system. One physical drive in a three
drive SCSI array has failed. We have put three different drives into the
failed drive position, then gone to the MegaRAID bios, selected Object,
selected the drive, and then attempted to REBUILD. For all three drives,
the rebuild gets to 2% and then fails. We then do a FORMAT from the
Object menu, followed by REBUILD and again it gets to 2% and then
fails. For all three drives, we tested them on an external system and
the drives are flawless.
Does anyone have experience with MegaRAID who would suggest a
different solution path? All of the MegaRAID documentation suggests
that FORMAT followed by REBUILD should work.

megaraid stuff sucks.
do you have a spare controller to try, after doing backups?
