"We" have a Dell PowerEdge 1650 server. It has 3 drives and attached
to a PowerVault. We have various SCSI drives manufacturers but all at
73GB. The PV is raided and works fine.
Trying to update the firmware for the Seagate/Maxtor Cheetah drives
(ST373307LC) using the update CD off the Dell site (it's in the
drivers & updates for the PE1650) but giving me the error on all the
drives:
** SCSI 3-015 Disk - Update Device Firmware **
Test Results : Fail
Error Code 4400:281D
Msg: Invalid request
Drives are still functioning. It "failed" before any updating.

My first thought is that Dell has ******* up on the software it gave
you. My second thought is -- do you really need to update the firmware?
It's a risky thing so don't do it unless you really have a good reason
for that. And if you do, go to the *Seagate* site and see what support
they have there for your drive.
It's possible that Dell puts different drives in the PE1650 from time to
time. Big computer companies are famous for that sort of thing.
