Turning off "Next Page" option with Acrobat / Epson
I'm running Acrobat Profession version 7 on OS X 10.5.
My scanner is an Epson Perfection 3170 with an automatic document
feeder.
Previously, I could drop a handful of pages into the feeder, choose
FILE => CREATE PDF => FROM SCANNER in Acrobat, set the scanner to ADF
(automatic document feeder), and it would create a single PDF from the
whole stack.
I installed the SANE system for Macintosh, but then removed it.
Now, the first page scans and then I get a pop-up called "Acrobat
Scan". It says,
"Next Page" and "Front of Sheet 2" is selected (no other options) --
and I can choose DONE or NEXT.
If I choose NEXT, it scans the next page. When I choose DONE, it goes
back to Acrobat and the PDF is created.
It never did this before, and it's kind of pointless having an
automated feeder if I have to stop after every page.
A few points:
- reinstalling the Epson software did not help
- I notice that I now get a separate pop-up the first time the
scanner dialog opens -- this pop-up allows me to choose a scanner
(only one is currently installed). Don't recall getting this before
the problem started.
- I have another program that uses the same scanner -- it continues
to scan multiple pages without interruption.
Any suggestions on fixing this issue would be appreciated.

Rerun the Scanner wizard in Acrobat Profession version 7.
Configure for the ADF and automatically get next page.

I can't seem to find the scanner wizard -- or any scanner settings for
that matter -- in Acrobat. Where do I find those?
Thanks! -c

I don't have Acrobat Professional, I have used Omnipage Pro 15, which makes
PDF files from a scanner. In that software the Scanner Wizard is a separate
item on the Start menu in the Omnipage folder.
I assume that the scanner wizard for Acrobat would be a separate item also.
Maybe not. The following is from Acrobat Pro 8.0 help PDF.
Create from a paper document
You can create a PDF directly from a paper document using Acrobat and your
scanner.
1 Click the Create PDF button choose From Scanner.
2 Select the input, output, and document options in the Acrobat Scan dialog
box, and then click Scan.
3 If creating a new PDF, specify a filename and location, and click Save.

Perhaps check Epson's web site for latest software. I use an Epson, not
the same as yours, and Acrobat 7 Standard. The Epson sw lets me select
ADF vs. conventional and this is passed to Acrobat.

Thanks for your response. I am using the latest driver software and
have ADF selected. Still the same issue.
I did switch to VueScan software for scanning. (www.hamrick.com) It's
a bit temperamental, but it does the trick -- and provides a more
control.
