TIFF 48bit to JPEG2000: which batch converter?

Hi,
I do convert a large archive of TIFF 48bit images into JPEG2000 (I think it
is lossless, isn't it?) because I need free space on my hard disks.

Which software with automated action can do this?

Forget about JPEG2000. The space saving is not that great and it's a
slow read and write format.

I also think it's a dead end format. I could be wrong but is anyone
really using JPEG2000?

Price of hard disks have come down in price and DVD-RW is cheaper than ever.

I prefer to compress rather than buy another (the third) hd. I have more
than 1 TeraByte of files archived.

JPEG2000 is lossless even at a compression ratio of 50% and it is better
than you think (IMHO)
This means that it allows me to save about 600 GB. It's not a joke!
(Winrar allows 20-22% but it compresses only one file at a time)

It can, but only up to a 640x460 pixel image with the free plug-in -
otherwise you have to buy the full plug-in from
LuraTech for $30

Under Windows, you can use FastStone Image Viewer to save as a 48-bit
JPEG2000 - free!

Very slow with my old computer, though - hope your's is fast.

Photoshop will do it, if you have it - a batch file

what you're looking for is 'ImagMagick'.

I think that Faststone compresses file by file. I have more than 1.000 TIFF
48 bit files: I really cannot compress each one!
It's like a suicide !

You record a new action (like open TIFF filve, save as JPEG 2000), then
use Batch to play the action on a folder of files.
