Default LS-30 strange behaviour

I've had my LS-30 for about 10 years or so, and it's always worked
perfectly. I admit to being a bit of a heathen, because I mostly use Nikon
Scan, simply because I like the way it works as a PS plugin. I recently
built a new PC, but no matter what I do, the system now reboots in the
middle of a scan using Nikon Scan. I should mention that Vuescan works
flawlessly. Though I'm on new hardware, I'm running the same version of XP
Pro, SP2, and using the same version (3.1.2) of Nikon Scan. I can certainly
live with buying Vuescan, (I do like the software) and I CAN live without
using Nikon Scan inside PS, but I'd like to have the option. Nikon tech
support says they no longer support SCSI scanners on XP (pretty specific!),
and I know that installing the drivers for the LS-30 on XP has always been a
bit tricky, but I've done it enough times to have it down pat. ASPI layer is
good, drivers are installed, etc. But this is just plain weird. Has anyone
experienced this kind of behaviour?

Thanks,

Bob

Well, there's only two possibilities.
Either some program is clashing, or it's a hardware prob.
First thing I would do is to terminate all running programs, like anti-
virus.
Is same behavior exists, then I'd wonder about RAM or power supply.

If you indeed have no other probs with ANY other thing you do with the
puter, and can't find a solution, then certainly VueScan would be the
only real answer, seems.

You DO know that while it is not strictly a plugin, you CAN have your
scans from VueScan immediately opened IN PhotoShop as soon as the scan
is finished, right? It amounts to the same thing, really.
