Epson Scanner - Skips a Page - Help!

I'm running an Epson Perfection 3170 with a document feeder on Mac OS
X 10.5.

When I scan a stack of pages through Acrobat Professional (v.7 / CS2),
the first page scans okay, but then the feeder automatically pulls a
second page, which it runs through without scanning.

This happens regardless of whether I have one-sided or two-sided
document selected.

Any suggestions on fixing this problem would be appreciated.
