Hello all. I can get a good buy on an Epson 4490 Photo Scanner. I don't
really need a specialized photo scanner per se. I don't do slides or
film. But I would like a scanner that does text and sheet music very
crisp. Is there any reason I should *not* buy this scanner? Or *any*
special "photo" scanner for that matter? Thanks. (Mac OS 10.4)

Just about any of today's scanners can do a good job of scanning sheet
music.
You need a scanner that will do about 600 DPI in Grayscale. The secret to
getting good clear scans is in the advanced settings where you control the
brightness and contrast of the image.
