Canon DR-5080C & DR-5020 document scanners paper feeding

Hi,

I have two canon scanners: Canon DR-5080C & DR-5020. Each time i try
and scan, the paper has difficulty being picked up from the paper
tray. When paper is picked up, it takes more than one sheet and
sometimes it tries to take the complete pile in one go. Do i just
need to replace the rollers in the machines, or is something else
causing the problem?

I am not familiar with those models.

I would start with a good cleaning of the rollers.
If that does not fix the problem the next step would be replacing the
rollers.

Does anyone know of a microfilm scanning solution that doesn't cost an arm
and a leg?

I have a couple of reels of historic legal data that I'm working with,
consisting of thousands of pages -- and it sure would be easier to read this
on a PC at home rather than going through the hassle at the library.

isn't answered in this discussion, which it will not be, please start
a new thread/discussion. The topic here is regarding Canon DR-5020
and DR-5080c scanners and paper feed errors.

Jim,

I don't have one, but I've read that the Microtek Scanmaker 35t will
allow one to feed 35mm microfilm in one side and out the other. With
such a scanner, one could set up a couple of reels, and feed an entire
roll of film through the scanner. Unfortunately, the scanner has long
been out of manufacture, but there may be working ones still
around.... or there are probably other film scanners that might be
used in a similar manner. The only one I know of is the professional
model of the Nikon, which will scan film strips, but I'm not sure
about handling an entire microfilm roll.

I have the 2050C. The instructions tell you to fan the pages before
scanning. Otherwise, they have a tendency to stick together. That
generally works for me and I've used my scanner to scan thousands of
pages, of different sizes and shapes and some in rather bad condition.
At times, however, I just have to feed the scann er a few pages at a
time, and, rarely, fix up the file afterwards in Adobe Standard Edition,
which came with the scanner.

Can anyone suggest a scanner capable of reproducing 35mm microfilm reels on
a PC screen?

One that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

I see Vuescan has provisions for Microfilm under transparency, but I suspect
my RX500 won;t have the firepower, and the FS2710 would require taking a
scissors to the reels, which doesn;t work for me.

If you search Google, it will show you how to create a new topic/
post. It's really quite simple. If you are logged in, then all you
have to do is click on the link under the heading discussions called
