Substitute ink for Kodak EasyShare ????

In the past I have had bad luck using refill kits and 2nd party inks with my
printers.
I am in need of ink now, (Kodak 5300), and I am wondering if any of you
people have any experiences using 2nd party inks? I prefer staying with
Kodak, but the Kodak black cartridge is not available now on eBay.
