Hi, everyone...
I have a flatbed printer which is essentially Epson Stylus Photo 1290. I work little with it, and then my head was broken. For over 40 days I didn't do anything with that flatbed printer. After I had replaced head of printer and flat cable from printer head to mainboard, my flatbed printer wasn't working... When I press start button (where printer should do those self-preparing tests), table is go out, and than (when printer head should move) my printer stops... After a few minutes some of sensors snicks, and than I could press Start button again and again, and always same thing hapening with table and head...
Could anybody tell me whats wrong with my printer, or is something wrong with table and sensors (or board that simulate translation of paper), or problem is with printer head (or flat cable)???
Any help is more than welcome...
Thank You...
I do not believe that any of the Epson flatbed (all in one) printers use
the 1280/1290 printers as their base.
Can you indicate the model number of your printer? Epson print heads
rarely fail, but they do clog. They can usually be unclogged with a
process, but now that you replaced the head and ribbon cable, there are
many possible problems that could have been introduced, so I don't know
what to suggest.
There are a few terms you used in your translation which I do not
understand. For instance you state some of the sensors the "snicks",
but I am not familiar with this term or which sensors you refer to. Do
you mean LED lights blink?
Sadly, I do not understand the translation of several terms. Perhaps
you can ask someone who has more familiarity with English to help you to
state the description, and then I might be able to help you more.

I will try to explain a little better what happens to the printer, maybe I have a little perplexed, and after that I hope that you will understand me better. Also, I will try to post some video clip so you can see what is happening with printer, so if you have any idea what could be wrong, please tell me what can I do.
Thank you.
Best regards
Ivan
I replaced the printing head and the flat cable on my printer. When I turn on printer, and press StartUp button, the working table moves to it's initial position during self-test (that is OK), but furthermore the printer does not start mounting the head. I hears only the inclusion of relays, and then after a 1,5-2minutes, I heard its exclusion. I checked the new flat cable, it is correct.
I have no idea what was wrong, but I guess that the problem is in the communication of the printeing head and the printer mainboard. If someone has some idea, please inform me what I can do. Below are links for two video clips(with a few comments) that I recorded, which may help in detecting problems. Please, can someone help me? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phhmweed5ZA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksPP98_vNSg
Thank you.

Sorry, but I didn't understand you very well.
Do you maybe have a mail address, so I could send you this files there.
Probably you will not be able to send me PM (with address), but here's my mail: i_erlenvajn@yahoo.com, so send me your address there, if you can.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards.
Ivan
I have looked at the two youtube videos you presented, and I am unable
to determine what is going wrong with the printer from them.
It is possible that the head was not the part that was broken when you
replaced it, and that there has been a failure of the mainboard components.
The only thing I can suggest at this time, is that you look into
purchasing or otherwise acquiring a copy of the service manual for the
1280 / 1290 printer. I don't know what languages the manuals may be
available in beyond English and Japanese. The English versions can be
found through a number of websites which sell manuals and probably on
e-bay as well.
Best of luck.
