We have an old HP Laserjet IIP Plus. We recently got rid of some
viruses.
Ever since then the printer just prints blank pages.
It is not the printer because when I unhook the printer cable and do
Alt-Reset the buffer is cleared and it stops printing blanks - and
sits there like normal.
As soon as I connect the printer cable, out come the blank pages
again.
I disbled/re-enabled the LPT1 port and I asked the control panel to re-
install the driver.
Anyone have any ideas on what else I can do? I am afraid if we get
another printer the same thing will happen - blank pages galore.

Have you Uninstalled the driver, then shut down, then shut down, then
reinstalled the drivers from fresh media/download ?

I tried that, except I cannot find an XP print driver for a Laserjet
IIP Plus - i guess because it is so old.

The IIP Plus drivers are already in WinXP.
Once you delete the printer you can go to Add Printer, and Local Printer, LPT1,
HP (left Side) and Laserjet IIP Plus at the right side.
However does the printer internal test page print OK with the cable
disconnected from the PC?
Can't remember exactly but it should be available from the printer front panel
menu.

You may have some print jobs stuck in the queue. Turn off the printer.
Assuming you are running Windows XP go to Start, Printers and Faxes, double
click on the LaserJet IIP Plus, Printer, Pause Printing, Cancel all
documents. Make sure all the documents are cleared in the queue. Then
turn the printer back on and then uncheck the "Pause Printing" selection.
Thanks for all your advice but I tired all those things. And yes, I
was able to get the printer to print the printer internal test page
just fine with the printer cable disconnected.
And I have no jobs stuck in the queue.
The computer for same reason is sending a signal to the printer to
print blank pages and I need to figure out how to stop it.
Is there anyway, without re-installing XP, to find the IIP print
driver on the hard drive and overwrite it mannually with a driver
downloaded from somewhare? Problem with that is that I cannot find a
driver for the LaserJet IIP Plus - like I said prob because it is soo
old.
